Alok Ranjan is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Plaksha University. He is an applied microeconomist with primary research interests in public and urban economics and secondary interests in labor economics and political economy. His work focuses on how institutions and policies shape economic behavior, with particular attention to transparency, governance, and inequality. In his research, Prof Ranjan combines large-scale administrative and survey data with state-of-the-art causal inference and machine learning techniques to answer policy-relevant questions.
Prior to joining Plaksha, Prof Ranjan obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He holds a BS and MS from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. For more details, you can check his website.
