Grand Challenges Scholars Program
Plaksha's Grand Challenge Scholars Program is a comprehensive initiative comprising curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular elements. Its primary objective is to prepare students to become engineering leaders of tomorrow, equipped to solve the grand challenges facing society during the next century. By successfully completing the five components of the program, students will have the opportunity to participate in research related to their chosen grand challenge, explore interdisciplinary coursework, gain an international perspective, engage in entrepreneurship, and contribute to the community through service learning.
Postgraduate Programs
Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MS in AI)
The MS in AI program is a full-time residential program that reimagines AI education by building strong foundations in AI principles and their real-world applications in industry, developing the next generation of AI talent.
Among the first of its kind in India, this one-year program has been co-created by distinguished academics and industry leaders from top global institutions (Penn Engineering and UC Berkeley) and leading technology organizations (Google, Microsoft, and Fractal).
Master of Science (Research)
The Master of Science (Research) is a part-time degree for working professionals. Students remain in full-time employment while completing the program over two academic years, drawing research from problems directly from their professional practice.
The program sits at Level 6.5 of the National Higher Education Qualifications Framework, aligned with the UGC Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programmes. Coursework and assessments are structured to accommodate worker schedules, with flexible assessment timing where required.
The program's 40 credits, 28 are research credits. Research is evaluated through progress reviews, seminar presentations, publications where applicable, and a thesis defense before examiners. Students with strong performance can transfer into Plaksha's PhD program, carrying forward qualifying credits already completed.
Doctoral Programs
PhD
Offers research opportunities across all areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Economics, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Biosystems, and other fields. Further, interdisciplinary research to address grand challenges, including clean energy, agriculture, healthcare, health security, etc is encouraged. PhD positions involving applications across multiple interdisciplinary areas, including eight new PhD positions with a special fellowship package, at the Harish and Bina Shah School of AI and Computer Science, Plaksha.
Summer Programs
YTS+
YTS+ (formerly Young Technology Scholars) is a two-week immersive summer program for high schoolers interested in biology, economics, mathematics, or physics but seeking unconventional career paths. It offers 3 tracks, helping students discover subjects that genuinely excite them beyond exam-focused learning.
Academic Research Writing Course (ARWC)
The ARWC is a 7-week online program guiding students from a research question to a 2,000-word academic manuscript while building core academic and critical thinking skills. It also emphasises communication skills for presenting ideas to academic, public, and digital audiences.
