Can I do this while working full-time?
Yes, the program is designed specifically for working professionals. It is offered only in part-time mode, and admission requires proof of employment. In exchange, it demands a real time commitment: 28 of the 40 total credits are research credits, spread across two years. Candidates who go in without realistically planning for that time commitment tend to run into delays.
Do I need an NOC?
Yes. An NOC from the current employer is a mandatory part of the application under the program regulations. It confirms employment, permits attendance at scheduled contact sessions and records the employer's position on intellectual property, should the research draw on their data or facilities.
Can I research a problem from my own workplace?
Yes, often — and it can make for stronger work. Where the research touches your employer's commercial interests, the university requires a written agreement on ownership, confidentiality, and publication in place before your research registration is confirmed. Do I need a GATE score?
Not necessarily, but it helps. Admission is based on a national or university-level entrance examination followed by an interview, and candidates with a valid GATE score or equivalent may be given preference. UGC-NET and CSIR-NET scores are also accepted. Candidates without a national score may take the Plaksha screening test.
How much time will this take each week?

Can this lead to a PhD?
Yes. Students who demonstrate strong performance during the MS(R) may transfer into the Plaksha PhD program, provided they meet PhD admission requirements, and may carry qualifying credits already earned into it rather than starting over.
