Prof Alok Ranjan is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Plaksha University. He is an applied microeconomist with primary research interests in Public Economics and Urban Economics and secondary interests in Labor Economics and Political Economy. His work focuses on how institutions and policies shape economic behavior, with particular attention to transparency, governance, and inequality. In his research, Prof Ranjan combines large-scale administrative and survey data with state-of-the-art causal inference and machine learning techniques to answer policy-relevant questions.
Prior to joining Plaksha, Prof Ranjan earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He holds BS and MS degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. For more details, please visit his website.
