Praveen Kumar

Prof Praveen Kumar is an Associate Professor at Plaksha University. He previously held an Associate Professor position at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, and completed postdoctoral research as a Marie Curie Fellow at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. He holds a PhD in Physics from IIT Delhi and an MSc in Physics from the University of Rajasthan.

Prof Kumar’s current research develops advanced materials and quantum optoelectronic devices for energy harvesting and conversion. His thrust includes single-photon emitters and single-photon avalanche detectors designed to operate in the visible spectrum at room temperature.

  • Two-dimensional materials, including TMDCs, MXenes, h-BN, and oxides
  • Self-powered and broadband photodetectors
  • Spin-manipulated hydrogen generation

  • National Quantum Mission effort: developing hexagonal boron nitride and transition metal dichalcogenides using molecular beam epitaxy.

Prof Kumar has authored 102 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to 11 books or book chapters.
