About

Prof Shashikant Pawar works at the intersection of fluid mechanics, turbulence, and computational and experimental methods. He earned his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where he investigated buoyancy-driven turbulent flows and their role in transport processes in natural systems. He has also worked on the interaction of turbulence with light propagation, motivated by phenomena observed in atmospheric flows.

His research has evolved towards interdisciplinary problems involving complex fluid flows and their interaction with the environment, technology, and biological systems. His current work combines laboratory experiments, computational modelling, flow visualization, and emerging data-driven and AI/ML methods to understand and predict fluid-flow phenomena. He is particularly interested in translating fundamental fluid-mechanics insights into applications relevant to sustainable systems, the built environment, and accessible engineering education.

His academic and industrial experience spans research, teaching, experimental system development, and engineering practice, providing a balance of fundamental understanding and application-oriented problem solving.
