Admissions Process at Plaksha — Part 2
Key Takeaways
- Stage one of Plaksha's admissions process is filling the application form. Stage two is a virtual interaction. In stage two, the admissions team reviews the submitted applications and invites shortlisted applicants to the interaction.
- Shortlisting takes three to five weeks. Only shortlisted applicants receive an email to proceed to the virtual interaction.
- The virtual interaction is a 1:1 conversation. Applicants who studied mathematics and physics in high school are asked a few conceptual questions on these subjects, followed by an innovation challenge question.
- The innovation challenge draws on everyday problems. It needs no preparation, and applicants are encouraged to answer imaginatively.
- The 1:1 virtual conversation runs both ways, so applicants can raise their own questions and clear doubts.
- After the conversation, the admissions team evaluates the application, the supporting documents and what emerged in the virtual interaction. Some applicants are then called for a further round of interview. After a thorough review, the admissions decision is shared with the applicant.

Stage 2: The Virtual Interaction Process
Once the deadline for submission is over, the admissions team goes through each application meticulously and shortlists applications for the next stage, which is the virtual interaction.
The process of shortlisting takes anywhere between 3 to 5 weeks and applicants are encouraged to write in with any queries they have. Frequent events are organised to expose the applicants and their families to different aspects of Plaksha — everything from academics and faculty to campus infrastructure and student life is covered here.
This Plaksha admissions guide offers an overview of the application journey, from shortlisting to the admission interview and final decision. Applicants and families can also explore information about BTech scholarships and financial aid for engineering programs, while international applicants can use the admissions process to understand the requirements and key stages involved. Keeping track of the admissions timeline can help applicants plan each stage and prepare well in advance.
Only shortlisted applicants receive emails about the virtual interaction sessions. This is conducted online as follows:
What to Expect During the 1:1 Conversation
1:1 conversation
The 1:1 conversation is an opportunity for us at Plaksha, to learn more about you, your interests and your experiences. It is also an opportunity for you to place your questions and clear any doubts. We try to keep these conversations open and ensure that the applicants also get to share their views, opinions and queries.
There will be a few conceptual questions about Mathematics and Physics (if opted for in high school) and later a question on innovation challenge. The question is based on routine issues faced by most people. It encourages applicants to find imaginative solutions. This is an individual exercise and does not require preparation. There is no right or wrong answer. Applicants are encouraged to come up with creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
How Final Admission Decisions Are Made
Once Stage 2 is completed the admissions team puts together all the information and insights collected throughout the process to decide on each applicant. Each application and all the information provided is scrutinized by the team and the Admissions Committee before a decision is made.
In some cases, we also seek another round of interview with some applicants. After these rounds of careful assessment, a final decision is made and a candidate is selected for admission. The decision is then communicated to the applicant.
