Dr. T V Ramanathan is a Professor at Plaksha University in Mohali, Punjab, India. He has a PhD in Statistics from the University of Pune. His academic journey includes significant roles such as Senior Professor, Head of the Department of Statistics, and Director of the School of Mathematical & Computing Sciences at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Professor Ramanathan had teaching and research appointments at institutions such as Mississippi State University, USA; University of Waterloo, Canada; KU Leuven, Belgium; University of Mauritius; and University of Botswana.
Professor Ramanathan has supervised more than a dozen PhD students and guided numerous students for their MPhil and Masters projects. He has collaborated with researchers worldwide, reflecting his commitment to advancing statistical knowledge and application in interdisciplinary academic arenas. His dedication to teaching and research highlights his contributions to the academic community and his passion for Statistics and Data Science.
Dr. Ramanathan's research focuses on inference in stochastic processes, financial statistics, and time series analysis, contributing significantly to Statistics and Data Science through numerous peer-reviewed publications. Ramanathan’s research has been published in top-tier journals, addressing complex statistical modeling and inference. His work includes topics such as model selection using focused information criteria, risk modeling in the financial domain, integer time series models, and frontier regression.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ramanathan has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Statistician Award from the Indian Society of Probability & Statistics, the V.K. Jog Award for Best Teacher at Savitribai Phule Pune University, and the Young Statistician Award from the International Statistical Institute, Netherlands.
