Aashana Baldi

A month at Cambridge on full bursary

Aashana Baldi | BTech Class of 2028

My experience at the University of Cambridge through OGE was truly one of the most enriching experiences of my college journey. Spending a month in Cambridge gave me the opportunity to learn in a completely new academic environment while experiencing British culture and life in the UK. What I especially loved about the programme was the diversity of courses and people. I got to explore subjects across AI, Data Science, Healthcare, Finance, and Marketing, which allowed me to learn beyond my regular curriculum and discover new areas of interest. Studying alongside people from different backgrounds and age groups-from students around 18 to professionals in their 50s-also gave me perspectives that went far beyond the classroom. I would highly recommend this programme to other students, especially because of the flexibility to choose from such a wide range of courses and the opportunity to experience studying at one of the world's most renowned universities. One of the most meaningful aspects of my experience was the financial support I received. I was fortunate to receive a full bursary from Cambridge, while OGE also covered half of my flight costs. This support made it possible for me to have this incredible international academic experience at a much lower cost, and I am extremely grateful to both Cambridge and OGE for making the opportunity accessible to me. Overall, my month at Cambridge was a wonderful combination of academic learning, cultural exposure, independence, and meeting people from around the world. I am incredibly thankful to OGE and Cambridge for giving me this opportunity and for an experience that I will carry with me long after returning home.

Manan Gadesha

Research Internship at Rutgers University

Manan | BTech Class of 2027

This summer, I traveled to Rutgers University for a research internship, working at the intersection of simulation and robotics. My project focused on using discrete element method (DEM) modeling to understand how tomato paste behaves on stainless steel and then testing those insights on a custom-built 2-DOF robotic scrubbing system — essentially figuring out how to make a robot clean as effectively as we do. Being away from Plaksha for the summer meant adapting to a new lab culture, a new campus, and a country I'd only seen in photos before. Between long days at the bench and exploring a new part of the world, it was a summer that pushed both my research skills and my sense of what "home" can mean for a little while.

Summer School at RWTH Aachen University

Pahul | BTech Class of 2028

The summer school was a very exciting time when I got to meet new people from different cultures and learn in a unique academic setting. Even though we all brought very diverse stories and perspectives with us, we were united by our love for learning - and the shared relief after the final exam was over! Overall, it was a great opportunity for me to explore the possibility of studying abroad in the future.

Udaiveer Singh

SURF program at Purdue University

Udaiveer | BTech Class of 2027

My summer at Purdue through the SURF program was an experience that extended far beyond research. Academically, I gained valuable exposure to research through my work on crop monitoring and agroecosystem analysis, while SURF’s biweekly seminars introduced me to perspectives on research, academic publishing, industry, and scientific communication. Outside the lab, campus life made the experience truly memorable - from farmers’ markets and Purdue’s bowling, LEGO nights, and scavenger-hunt events to meeting and enjoying all these events with students from around the world.
The Greater Lafayette Intern Experience programme played an equally important role, giving us opportunities to experience the local community through events such as laser tag, go-karting, downtown adventures, conversations with local business leaders, and a baseball game at Loeb Stadium.
Beyond Lafayette, I was fortunate to explore the US on my own, watching the spectacular 250th Independence Day fireworks in New York, experiencing The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm, and enjoying Chicago’s Riverwalk and fireworks. Together, these experiences made my summer not just a research programme, but a journey of learning, friendship, independence, and cultural discovery.
