Bio

James joined the faculty of University of Michigan as an assistant professor for Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences and has a teaching experience of more than 20 years. In 2007, he was named an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor in recognition of outstanding contributions to undergraduate education.

He has served as reviewer for many journals and programs, and served as Editor of the journal Transport Theory and Statistical Physics. He has chaired 20+ doctoral committees and is a member of reputed engineering associations and societies. 

He has received the Ted Kennedy Family Team Excellence Award (2014) and Harold R. Johnson Diversity Service Award (2011) in recent years.
