Yes. Counselling is a confidential and private space where you can talk openly about your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and concerns. Information shared during counselling is treated confidential and is not shared with faculty, peers, parents, or other members of the university community.
There are, however, certain situations where confidentiality may need to be limited; for example, if there is a serious and immediate concern about your safety or someone else’s safety, or where disclosure is required by law. If such a situation arises, the counselor will discuss it with you as far as possible and involve only the appropriate people or services.
You do not need to have a mental health diagnosis or be going through a crisis to seek counselling. You can reach out simply because you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with something, or would like a safe space to talk.
COPE at Plaksha University stands for Counselling Outreach and Peer Empowerment, a student support and wellness initiative. Every incoming student is paired with a certified senior student known as a COPE buddy.
COPE buddies are trained in Mental Health First Aid, organised by the Centre of Wellness at Plaksha in collaboration with MPower by the Aditya Birla Group. Their role is to help new students with the transition and adjustment to academics, campus life and friendships. In this way, Plaksha ensures that no one has to handle their struggles alone.
Nebula is a student-wellbeing club that brings students together through mindfulness activities, creative expression, and other experiences that encourage relaxation, self-awareness, and meaningful connection. It aims to create a sense of connection and community across campus.
The Centre for Wellness organises group activities, workshops, and interactive sessions focused on mental health, emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, coping skills, and building connections within the Plaksha community.
These may include skill-building sessions, team activities, mindfulness exercises, and other experiential activities.
Academic stress is a common part of university life, and you don’t have to manage it alone. The Centre for Wellness offers individual counselling and support to help students navigate academic pressure, procrastination, performance-related concerns, and difficulties with managing emotions. We also conduct skill-building workshops on topics such as procrastination, coping skills, emotional regulation, and managing stress. These sessions are designed to provide practical strategies that students can apply in their everyday academic life.
If academic stress is affecting your wellbeing, concentration, motivation, sleep, or day-to-day functioning, you can book an individual counselling session through the wellbeing booking portal.
Yes. If you prefer an online session with the on-campus counsellor, you can book through DeTalks. Alternatively, 24/7 online counselling support is available through YourDOST, giving you access to a counsellor whenever you need support.
You don’t need to bring anything specific to a counselling session. If it feels helpful, you can bring along any notes, questions, or concerns you would like to discuss. Most importantly, however, just come as you are and be open to talking about what you’re experiencing.
Confidentiality Statement
Counselling conversations remain confidential except in situations involving risk of harm to self, risk of harm to others, or legal obligations.
